Warren
Avis was an Intelligence U.S. Air Force Major
during World War II who made constant flights
all around the nation's airports where he always
had problems to rent a car.
In those times, when a traveller arrived to an
airport, they spent a great deal of time to take
a taxi and go to the suburbs to find the car-repair
workshops and garages, located in the worst places,
who were the ones that rented cars, and always
gave customers the oldest cars for rent.

When
WW II finished, came to Mr. Avis mind how to solve this
problem for the passengers when this business and tourist
travellers arrived to city airports, and founded in
1946 Avis Airlines Rent-a-Car, that was the first car
rental company to establish counters in the airports;
the primary ones were in Miami, Florida and Ypsilanty
Michigan, where he offered customers brand new cars.
